ADMISSION TO UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES IN PHYSICS

Integrated (5-year) M.Sc. Programme

2-year M.Sc. Programme

The Department of Physics admits students who have passed the school-leaving examination at the Higher Secondary level. Admissions are through the All-India IIT-JEE (Joint Entrance Examination).  This is held in two tiers: a Screening Test in the middle of April, followed by the Main Test in the middle of May.

The Department of Physics admits students who have passed (or are appearing for the final examinations) in B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) (three-year programmes only). Admissions are through the All-India JAM (Joint Admission to M.Sc.) Examination. This is generally held in the second week of May.

Integrated  M.Sc.-Ph.D.  (Dual Degree) Programme

Ph.D. (Graduate)  Programme

The Department of Physics admits students who have passed (or are appearing for the final examinations) in B.Sc. or B.Sc. (Hons.) (three-year programmes only). Admissions are through the All-India JAM (Joint Admission to M.Sc.) Examination. This is generally held in the second week of May.

The Physics Department admits students who have completed their M.Sc. degree (or have appeared for their M.Sc. final examinations) on the basis of performance in a written examination and interview conducted by the Department. Normally selections are made in May and December, but exceptional candidates may apply for a walk-in interview.
